The Trackmen Golf Club Stable XVI, LLC was launched with the purchase of a striking dark bay or brown New York Bred yearling colt for $65,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Company’s Sale of Preferred Yearlings in Saratoga Springs, NY, 8/9/08. Whole, half and quarter units were offered for sale. Our handsome acquisition is from the second crop of Saarland (the sire or father) out of the Astarte (the dam or mother) by Deputy Minister (the grandsire). Foaled on March 11, 2007, our colt is trained by Lady TGCer Linda Rice: "I absolutely love this colt"; she purchased one unit in this partnership for a total investment of $10,000. My Hirsch Thoroughbred Management, LLC , Bill Hirsch, Sole Manager, is the general partner/manager. Our trainer/partner Linda Rice fared well on the national racing circuit in 2009; her stable earned $2,879,890 in purse monies. From her 394 starters, Rice returned to the Winners' Circle 92 times for a 23% win average and her runners posted 58 seconds and 47 third-place finishes for an eye-catching 50% in-the-money average.Saratoga 2009 was also a record meet for Ms Rice, as she broke the barrier and was crowned the historic meet's first-ever woman to lead the final trainer standings (20 wins).

The name TRACKMENS STAR won our Naming Contest by default with 3 votes after the first placed name, TSAR, with 4 votes, was rejected by the Jockey Club. The reason for the rejection was that there is a similar name, Czar, already in use.
Congratulations to Carol Larkin who conjured up the winning moniker! When asked how she arrived at TRACKMENS STAR, Carol replied, "The STAR came from part of the dam's name and I thought TRACKMENS STAR was descriptive of the horse's future status". In addition to bragging rights, Carol wins a custom made black or brown leather belt with a solid brass buckle
and an engraved solid brass TRACKMENS STAR nameplate to be stitched on the belt to the side of the buckle. If any other partners wish to order a similar belt with our colt’s name on an in-sewn engraved solid brass nameplate, you may do so. The belts are available in black or brown and in men and women sizes. Please let me know if you wish to order a belt; the all-inclusive price is $50.
